Dismissal can happen in a number of ways. If you’re dismissed, you can within 60 days ask your boss to tell you why. They need to give you reasons in writing within 14 days. You don’t have this right to written reasons if dismissed during a valid trial period, but if you ask at the time of being told, your employer’s duty of good faith legally requires them to give you reasons, even as a trial employee. Summary dismissal is only allowed in situations of gross misconduct.
