If you’ve disclosed information in accordance with the Protected Disclosures Act and your employer takes retaliatory action against you or dismisses you, then you can bring a personal grievance for unjustified dismissal or disadvantage. Provided you made the disclosure in good faith, you’re protected against any criminal charges, civil court actions or disciplinary proceedings against you.
The people you disclose to must keep your identity secret, except in certain cases. Some reasons when your identity won’t be kept secret are to ensure natural justice and where disclosure is required for an effective investigation to be carried out.
