Your boss can’t fire you for being pregnant, applying for parental leave or being on parental leave.
If you can’t do your job while pregnant, your boss can move you to another job temporarily, but they can’t fire you. If they can’t find other work, they can make you start your parental leave early. Even if it’s more than 6 weeks before the baby is due, you can still take 12 weeks’ primary carer leave, and are entitled to extended leave.
