The minimum wage before tax from 1 April 2020 is $18.90 per hour ($151.20 per 8-hour day, or $756 per 40-hour week), or $15.12 per hour for a trainee or worker starting out ($120.96 per 8-hour day, or $604.80 per 40-hour week).
You get paid the adult minimum wage if you’re 16 or older and are
• not ‘starting out’ or a trainee (then you get 80%), or
• regularly training or supervising other workers.
There’s no minimum number of hours worked - you need to get at least minimum wage for each hour you work. You must be paid minimum for each hour worked - your rate can’t be averaged over a season. If you’re paid a ‘piece rate’ (for each bin of fruit picked, room cleaned, shirt sewed) you have to be paid at least minimum wage per hour worked.  The three types of minimum wage are adult, starting out, and training. There are also special rates for care & support workers.
If you're under 16 there is no minimum wage.
