You can resign at any time with as much notice as you want, but you have to give at least the notice required by your employment agreement, or reasonable notice if it doesn’t have a notice period. What’s reasonable isn't defined by law but depends on things like how long you’ve been in the job and how senior your role is. It can be two or four weeks, or even months for senior roles. A reasonable notice period applies to 90-day trials as well as general employment situation.
Any annual leave taken during your notice period counts as part of your notice period. If you had no pre-booked leave, your employer might be entitled to refuse a request for annual leave during your notice period if they need you to hand over or finish things at work.
