Every employee must have a written agreement. If your boss doesn’t provide you with one, they can be fined $1000 or more. You or a Labour Inspector can also ask the ERA to order your boss to pay a fine.
Your agreement should be signed by you and your boss, although it can be valid even if it’s not. Your boss must keep a signed (or unsigned, ‘intended’) copy of the agreement and they must give you a copy if you ask for one. The ERA can order your boss to pay a fine if they breach these rules.
