During a probationary period you’ll usually have the same rights as if you’re a permanent employee. If there are problems with how you’re doing the work, your boss has to tell you about them and what good performance would look like. They have to give you feedback, training and support so you can improve before the period ends.
You can take a personal grievance for unjustified dismissal to the Employment Relations Authority if you’re fired at the end of your probation period. But they may hold the employer to a lower standard in deciding if the process was fair than if you were a permanent employee.
