Your employment contract should have the steps the employer will undertake to resolve problems. They should act in good faith and not jump to conclusions. When discussing a problem, you have the right to bring a support person with you. Your employer must have an open mind when listening to you and needs to give you enough information so you can present your response.
You need an adequate opportunity to explain your side of things and your explanation needs to be properly considered. Your employer can launch an investigation to check the facts. If they are correct, they can put you on a performance management plan and provide the necessary support for you to meet the goals. If they are wrong, you can dispute the facts and take further steps.
