A collective employment agreement must be in writing and signed by each union and employer that is a party to it. It must include:
• what work or which employees it covers
• explanation of how to fix employment relationship problems
• wage or salary rates
• a clause requiring employees to be paid at least time and a half on public holidays
• how to change the agreement
• agreement expiry date
• how the employee will be protected if the business is restructured or sold. This applies to all industries apart from ones like cleaning and catering that are vulnerable to restructuring.
It can’t include anything that goes against the law.
