‘Casual employee’ isn’t defined in employment legislation, but it usually means when you have no guaranteed hours of work, no set pattern, and no ongoing expectation of employment. Your employer doesn’t have to offer you work, and you don’t have to accept it. If you work once for them, you’re not guaranteed to get more work. If you’re a casual employee, your hours can be cut because you’re only working as and when required.
