You may have worked for some time for more hours than what your contract says, but your employer wants to change the hours (e.g. back to the contract number). If you work or are rostered for fewer hours than usual, what happens next depends on what your employment agreement says, and the regularity of your shifts.
Some agreements (generally collective ones negotiated by a union) say that additional hours will automatically become permanent after a given period of time. Otherwise, it will take a factual inquiry as to whether the terms of the employment agreement have been varied through practice.
