Leave without pay is when you take time off work when you’d otherwise be working, but don’t get paid for this time. It doesn’t end your employment, and you usually go back to the same position and terms and conditions afterwards (unless you and your employer have agreed otherwise). It can affect your annual holidays payment and entitlement.
