You get a paid day off if a public holiday is on a day you would normally work (statutory holiday or ‘stat’). Public holidays are Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s, 2 January, Waitangi Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, ANZAC Day, Queen’s Birthday (first Monday in June), Labour Day (4th Monday in October) and your local anniversary day.
