If you think you’ve been unlawfully discriminated against during your employment, you and your employer should try to discuss the issue to resolve the problem. You can use a support person to help them, eg a union representative or lawyer. You also can contact Employment NZ for more information on how to resolve the situation.
If the problem can’t be resolved by talking about it, you can use MBIE’s the free and confidential employment mediation service or raise a personal grievance under the Employment Relations Act 2000, or make a complaint to the Human Rights Commission.
