A volunteer is someone who chooses to do work for the community or some public benefit and doesn’t expect pay or other reward. It doesn’t mean an on-the-job trainee. The two types of volunteers are casual volunteers, and ‘volunteer workers’ whose work is regular and ongoing. Employers have different duties for each type. Volunteers are protected from discrimination in employment.
