After you apply, the Employment Relations Authority sends a copy of your ‘Statement of problem’ to your boss. Your boss will have 14 days to reply and explain what their view of the facts are, and what they’ve done to resolve the problem (for example mediation).
The Authority can ask you or your boss to explain things in your statements, or hold a pre-investigation conference by phone or another way to resolve problems or talk about the procedure. After that, the case usually goes to an *investigation meeting*.
