If you’re starting out or a trainee you get paid $15.12/hour which is 80% of the minimum adult wage. *Starting out* means you’re:
• 16 or 17 and have worked for your employer less than 6 months in a row (including leave and time worked before you were 16)
• 18 or 19 and have been on a benefit for 6+ months and haven’t worked 6 months in a row with an employer since you started getting the benefit
• 16-19 and are doing 40 or more credits of industry training as part of your employment agreement.
*Trainee* means you’re 20 or older and your employment agreement means you’re doing 60 or more credits of industry training (not just ‘on the job’ training), such as an apprentice. If you’re regularly supervising or training other workers, you need to be on minimum wage even if you’re starting out or a trainee.
If you're under 16 there is no minimum wage.
