When can I get family violence leave?

You normally get domestic violence leave after 6 months of continuous work. Even if you haven’t worked continuously for 6 months, you can get domestic violence leave if in 6 months you’ve worked an average of 10 hours a week, and at least an hour every week or 40 hours every month.
Your boss can let you take domestic violence leave in advance if you haven't worked there 6 months, and that leave will then be deducted from the amount you later become entitled to. If you qualify for domestic violence leave and need it while you're on annual leave, you can take domestic violence leave instead of annual leave.
