When can union meetings happen?

As a union member you can go to two union meetings up to 2 hours each each calendar year. If the meeting is during your normal work hours, your boss has to pay your normal wage while you’re at the meeting. If you wouldn’t normally be working, your boss doesn’t have to pay you. Your employment agreement can set more than the minimum, for example meetings 4 hours long.
The union and employer should try to agree on a meeting time that works for both of them. The union must give at least 14 days' notice of the date and time of a union meeting, and must help the employer keep the employer's business going during meetings (enough union members may need to stay at work do to this). After the meeting, the union must tell the employer which members attended and say how long the meeting was.
The employees must be back at work as soon as practical after the meeting, and the employer doesn’t have to pay a union member who attends a meeting for any period longer than 2 hours in respect of the meeting (unless this is in the employment contract).
