An organisation is liable when a volunteer acting for them is negligent. For example, they’ll be liable if a driver doing deliveries acts negligently, but not if they do so driving home afterwards. An organisation should take reasonable care when taking on volunteers for specialist roles, or it may be liable for loss or damage caused by the volunteer.
