Free mediation is available through the MBIE Employment Relations section. Either you or your employer can contact them.
You and your employer will normally have to try resolving your disagreement by mediation before the Employment Relations Authority will intervene.
Employees and employers can choose to use a private mediator or arbitrator. However, any agreement that’s reached may not be enforceable in the Employment Relations Authority or the Employment Court unless it is later signed off by an MBIE mediator.
